Award...
To accompany our National Charity Award and our Sir Arthur Clarke Award, we also won the 2011 WISE Champion Award for organisations and individuals who have particularly inspired girls and young women into STEM education and related careers. VERY proud.
We were presented the award by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal (who was smart, funny and a pleasure to meet) for our work with condensed matter physicist Dr Gail Iles. We shared the award with The Warwick School in Redhill, Surrey.
Director of the UKRC Jane Butcher said: “This year for the first time we have a joint winner in one category – two remarkable organisations, equally outstanding but in different ways. Unlimited demonstrate creativity and thinking outside the box to inspire girls and young women, while Warwick School delivers all round excellence in science and then puts in the extra effort to ensure the engagement of girls. Both are worthy winners.”
We are VERY proud.
